When to Book Your Maternity and Newborn Photography Session

Tips from a Denver Maternity & Newborn Photographer

If you’re newly pregnant and already dreaming about soft, timeless images of your growing belly or those first snuggly weeks with your newborn, now is the time to start planning.

As aDenver Maternity PhotographerandDenver Newborn Photographer, one of the most common questions I get is:“When should I book my session?”
The answer? Much earlier than you think.

The Ideal Timeline for Booking

To avoid missing out on your ideal session window, and to ensure I’m actually in Denver when baby arrives, here’s a clear timeline to guide your planning:

6–12 Weeks Pregnant: Initial Inquiry

Yes, this early. I travel often for work and book a limited number of sessions per month to provide each family with a personalized, relaxed experience. Reaching out once you’ve hit 6 weeks allows us to discuss availability around your due date and begin reserving your spot on my calendar. You’ll be able to fill out a short contact form linked below to see if I’ll be in the Denver area during your maternity and newborn timeframe.

12–20 Weeks Pregnant: Secure Your Photographer

This is the sweet spot for officially booking your Denver maternity and newborn photography package. Most families wait until the second trimester to finalize details, and that’s when availability can begin to fill quickly. Booking early gives you the peace of mind that your sessions are scheduled and locked in.

32–34 Weeks Pregnant: Maternity Session

I typically photograph maternity sessions between 32 and 34 weeks. This window allows us to capture your beautiful belly without pushing too close to the end of pregnancy, when you might start feeling less comfortable. I generally don’t photograph maternity sessions beyond 36 weeks.

We’ll choose a beautiful location around Denver, and I’ll help style your wardrobe for a soft, elegant look that matches my signature aesthetic.

1–2 Weeks After Birth: Newborn Session

Newborn sessions are ideally scheduled when baby is between 7 and 14 days old. This is when babies are still sleepy, snuggly, and still have all the newborn features we love. I do offer flexibility up to 4 weeks old for families needing a bit more time to settle in.

Once baby arrives, just send me a quick message so we can lock in the exact date.

Why Booking Early Matters

Denver is a popular city for families seeking lifestyle maternity and newborn photography. Pair that with my travel schedule, and it’s easy to see why dates fill up months in advance. I never want to turn away a family due to lack of availability, especially for something as important and irreplaceable as this season in your life.

So if you’re newly pregnant and looking for aDenver Maternity PhotographerorDenver Newborn Photographer, don’t wait. The sooner we connect, the better I can serve your family with intention and care!
